School of Engineering Alumni

As a JCU Engineering Alumni you are an integral part of our School community. We are always delighted when contacted by our past graduates who relate their experiences, successes and the course their lives have taken. Our aim is to build and nurture the relationship between our Alumni and the students, staff and supporters of the School community.

News & Events

Ninety six guests attended the dinner that was held at the Museum of Tropical Queensland in Townsville. A great time was had by all who attended as they reconnected with former colleagues and were encouraged by MC, Gavin Blakey OAM, to tell stories of the antics they got up to as undergraduate students.....these seemed to get bigger and better as the night progressed!

Vice Chancellor, Professor Sandra Harding, presented an update on JCU with her vision for world recognition as a leading tropical research university with strong growth in the future. Prof Jeff Loughran, Head of School, presented an overview of the School of Engineering outlining the exciting research activities within the School and the importance placed on increasing the undergraduate student numbers to meet the insatiable industry demand for engineering graduates.

PVC, Prof Chris Cocklin, announced the Inaugural Engineering Alumni of the Year and presented the winner, Grahame Foulger, with a trophy. Grahame, who graduated from JCU in 1975 as a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, is Ergon Energy’s General Manager of Special Utilities and Innovation and headed the Ergon Energy Solar Cities team. On September 26 2006, it was announced the Ergon Energy-led, Townsville-based consortium had won the right to host a Solar City Project and receive up to $15 million in funding towards the $30 million trial. Grahame gave a presentation about this project.
